Kia Sportage 2012 - A Review

The Kia Sportage is a compact crossover SUV produced by one of the largest automotive manufacturers - Kia Motors. The new generation of Kia Sportage has changed the public view about the car, as lots of people even think that the production of this model has begun since 2010. In reality, the first generation of Sportage was launched in 1993, but the sales as well as profits were too low for the manufacturer company. The success of the company as well as this model has begun just in 2010, in times when the production of redesigned cars began. So logically the most of the magazines, journals and automotive TV shows were awarding Peter Schreyer (chief designer of Kia Motors) for the success of the company. New and developed marketing steps, brand-new designs, higher budget offered by Hyundai and the worldwide productions - these are the major reasons for being the Kia Motors successful in recent years.
The completely redesigned 2011 Kia Sportage was released in 2010 for European and Asian markets. Acknowledgement of the car has been raised so much that even the largest competitor companies like BMW or Volkswagen lost their market shares regarding the automotive class where Kia Sportage was developed to be sold.

What's new for 2012

There are no major exterior or interior changes in new 2012 Kia Sportage comparing to 2011 model. As usual when the car is newly produced, the next few years it is developed and not changed - so the same thing is happening to this model too. The development of the car basically has touched to the power, engine and performance - 176 horsepower 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine for all trims besides the turbocharged model - 274 hp and 2.0 engine.

Some new elements of exterior have been borrowed from the Hyundai Tuscon for 2012 Sportage, but without doubts there are no major changes as we have already mentioned above. Also the model's interior appointments include new fabric seat materials along with new colors.

Safety Changes for 2012

There has been lots of rumors about safety changes, some experts were saying that Kia Motors along with Hyundai Motor Company was working on the development of new Kia Sportage's safety - but as the official tests that has been already held gave us the results that none is changed regarding safety.

In recent times the Kia Sportage 2012 is preserves the "Top Safety Pick" status that awarded by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (U.S. IIHS company).
